The flight home

08.07.11

This was the hardest day in my life. Today I had to say goodbye to my family, my friends and my life that completely changed in a year.

Woke up and got ready. While I was sitting at the table waiting for the rest of the family, my dad came and look at me and touched my cheek. I burst. I think it was at that point I realised what was going to happen.
I said goodbye to Albert, and we started driving. Lucy was heaps upset and so was I.

It was such a weird atmosphere in the car. At one stage is was excited and kept talking but then, I suddenly got really emotional and got the feeling that I couldnt leave all this behind me.

We got to the airport in perfect time. I met up with Emilie, Emilie, Emil and Laura. We checked in together but we were all under 18 so they gave us a guide. How ridicoulous. It took ages to check in and they took our passports and gave us a time to meet at excatly. Meanwhile all this was going on, my friends started arriving.

A lot of people came! Unexpected but really meaningful considering it made the whole thing harder. I didnt want to be upset while spending my last time with my friends. Brian gave me a meatpie with a sad face and a coffee. Even though I wasnt hungry, but it all went down.

I ran around in the airport like crazy, with my akubra hat and rotary jumper. Giving big hugs, letting big tear drops out and trying to feel organised.

Like a snap, it was time to meet the guide. I thought that she then would give us time to say goodbye after meeting her. But that stupid woman kept saying: Hurry up Hurry up.

I cried and cried and cried. Gave hugs, said my last words, while the others went through the gate. Laura and I were as always the biggest mess and the last ones to get through.

I sat next to her through the whole trip. I cried everytime I read the letters people gave me or my little black book. But at one stage I just wanted to sleep, watch a movie and eat. I didnt like the food at all so I didnt eat that much. It was a heaps long trip and We both had a terrible headache during the whole trip.

One fun episode happened though. Laura and I sat next to SØREN ha ha ha this danish man that suddenly started talking in his very funny accent when he found out we were danish as well. God! It was hilarious and not to mention he was at our second plane too... LOL

In singapore we met up with a HUGE group of danes. I saw Trine! and ended up with a little chat at the toilets in the airplane.

Our last flight was really tiering too but everybody spoke danish and a lot of people were excited to get home. When we landed in Copenhagen, this young nice looking danish man stood with our passports. I told him how dumb it thought it was that we had to travel with guied and he agreed. He was so funny! and kept joking about the flying companies!

Finally we got our bags but.... fuck.... we had to see our families now... our adventure was over...okay let's wait 10minutes before we go out, Trine ,Laura, Joanna and I agreed. after 10 min we lined up in front of the door.... it opened a bit and we saw a massive crowd standing with flags full of excitedment.

For a moment I panicked!!! I CANT GO OUT THERE!!! but we got forced to when they all started cheering after they noticed us girls standing there... oh.. no....

The first to greet me was Rikke! which settled all my speculations wether to say hi to mum, dad or emil first..
