Finally this day appeared! Today I experienced my Christmas Present from Bronwyn, -A bridge climb on habour bridge with Caique.
We went in there, the weather a bit threatning, but nice. We had coffee and a very yummu cheesecake before we headed for the bridgeclimb.
Before the actual climb we had heaps of preparation. We had to wear these gray suits and camera etc wasn't aloud -not even bobby pins for the hair. Besides that we got climbing equiptment, radios and rain clothes cause, while we were preparing ourselves it started raining heavily!! But we had to do it! We had a trail climb on some ladders inside and the the real climb began.
On a long line of people attached to a long wire we started walking in the rain. Our guide was speaking to us explaining history, what to look after and other random stuff.
Me and Caique were the last one's in the line. After climbing a bit we came to a stop where 2 other workers were waiting. The guy and I talked for a while and it showed that he actually had been to Denmark before as he said: 'I wanted to travel so i looked at a map and just picked a country, luckily it was Denmark'
It is always fun when you meet people with interest in your country
The ladders were steep as and think that everything inklusive the climb took 3hours! But the time went quick, without thinking about it suddenly we were on the top of the bridge. When we just came up on the bridge where you could start to see the city, the most beautiful sunset appeared! Caique, I and a worker/helper stood watching it for a while, and admired how beautiful it was, -very memorable.
On our way there was a few stops where our guide took photos of us. I think most of the people except me and Caique were couples very cute. The weather changed all the time Rain/non/Rain/non/rain but It didnt ruin the experience, the sight was amazing and very clear still. The sun disappeared quickly and the dark surrounded us, the last smile from the entrance of Luna park appeared and gone it was. Lights flashing from buildings, boats, cars, train, starts everything appeared and Sydney suddenly looked different. Not better or worse but different. The view and atmosphere did something to you, I was breathless.
Soon it was time to climb down the bridge again ):
And funny enough the rain started again on our way down, it was slippery and I nearly fell a couple of times (but that's only because Im clumsy)
After the climb we got the group photo and a cetificate saying that we did the climb, I bought 2 photos on me and caique as well. Bronwyn wwas waiting for us meanwhile and for late dinner we went to pancakes on the rocks, which is always tasty. We talked and described our little adventure trough before it was time to drive home.
I must say that this probably has been the most memorable christmas present I've ever been given. I got the most amazing Hostmum Bronwyn who gave me this wonderful experience and I cant thank her enough! She really made my christmas this year worth spending in Australia! Thank you (:
